(John 3:16-21; Romans 5:6-11; Hebrews 11:17-19)

NIVESVNASBKJVHCSB
Some time later God tested Abraham. He said to him, "Abraham!" "Here I am," he replied.1After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, “Abraham!” And he said, “Here I am.”1Now it came about after these things, that God tested Abraham, and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."1And it came to pass after these things, that God did tempt Abraham, and said unto him, Abraham: and he said, Behold, here I am.1After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!"" Here I am," he answered."
Then God said, "Take your son, your only son, whom you love--Isaac--and go to the region of Moriah. Sacrifice him there as a burnt offering on a mountain I will show you."2He said, “Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you.”2He said, "Take now your son, your only son, whom you love, Isaac, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I will tell you."2And he said, Take now thy son, thine only son Isaac, whom thou lovest, and get thee into the land of Moriah; and offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of.2Take your son," He said, "your only son Isaac, whom you love, go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains I will tell you about."
Early the next morning Abraham got up and loaded his donkey. He took with him two of his servants and his son Isaac. When he had cut enough wood for the burnt offering, he set out for the place God had told him about.3So Abraham rose early in the morning, saddled his donkey, and took two of his young men with him, and his son Isaac. And he cut the wood for the burnt offering and arose and went to the place of which God had told him.3So Abraham rose early in the morning and saddled his donkey, and took two of his young men with him and Isaac his son; and he split wood for the burnt offering, and arose and went to the place of which God had told him.3And Abraham rose up early in the morning, and saddled his ass, and took two of his young men with him, and Isaac his son, and clave the wood for the burnt offering, and rose up, and went unto the place of which God had told him.3So Abraham got up early in the morning, saddled his donkey, and took with him two of his young men and his son Isaac. He split wood for a burnt offering and set out to go to the place God had told him about.
On the third day Abraham looked up and saw the place in the distance.4On the third day Abraham lifted up his eyes and saw the place from afar.4On the third day Abraham raised his eyes and saw the place from a distance.4Then on the third day Abraham lifted up his eyes, and saw the place afar off.4On the third day Abraham looked up and saw the place in the distance.

He said to his servants, "Stay here with the donkey while I and the boy go over there. We will worship and then we will come back to you."5Then Abraham said to his young men, “Stay here with the donkey; I and the boy will go over there and worship and come again to you.”5Abraham said to his young men, "Stay here with the donkey, and I and the lad will go over there; and we will worship and return to you."5And Abraham said unto his young men, Abide ye here with the ass; and I and the lad will go yonder and worship, and come again to you.5Then Abraham said to his young men, "Stay here with the donkey. The boy and I will go over there to worship; then we'll come back to you."
Abraham took the wood for the burnt offering and placed it on his son Isaac, and he himself carried the fire and the knife. As the two of them went on together,6And Abraham took the wood of the burnt offering and laid it on Isaac his son. And he took in his hand the fire and the knife. So they went both of them together.6Abraham took the wood of the burnt offering and laid it on Isaac his son, and he took in his hand the fire and the knife. So the two of them walked on together.6And Abraham took the wood of the burnt offering, and laid it upon Isaac his son; and he took the fire in his hand, and a knife; and they went both of them together.6Abraham took the wood for the burnt offering and laid it on his son Isaac. In his hand he took the fire and the sacrificial knife, and the two of them walked on together.
Isaac spoke up and said to his father Abraham, "Father?" "Yes, my son?" Abraham replied. "The fire and wood are here," Isaac said, "but where is the lamb for the burnt offering?"7And Isaac said to his father Abraham, “My father!” And he said, “Here I am, my son.” He said, “Behold, the fire and the wood, but where is the lamb for a burnt offering?”7Isaac spoke to Abraham his father and said, "My father!" And he said, "Here I am, my son." And he said, "Behold, the fire and the wood, but where is the lamb for the burnt offering?"7And Isaac spake unto Abraham his father, and said, My father: and he said, Here am I, my son. And he said, Behold the fire and the wood: but where is the lamb for a burnt offering?7Then Isaac spoke to his father Abraham and said, "My father." And he replied, "Here I am, my son." Isaac said, "The fire and the wood are here, but where is the lamb for the burnt offering?"
Abraham answered, "God himself will provide the lamb for the burnt offering, my son." And the two of them went on together.8Abraham said, “God will provide for himself the lamb for a burnt offering, my son.” So they went both of them together.8Abraham said, "God will provide for Himself the lamb for the burnt offering, my son." So the two of them walked on together.8And Abraham said, My son, God will provide himself a lamb for a burnt offering: so they went both of them together.8Abraham answered, "God Himself will provide the lamb for the burnt offering, my son." Then the two of them walked on together.
When they reached the place God had told him about, Abraham built an altar there and arranged the wood on it. He bound his son Isaac and laid him on the altar, on top of the wood.9When they came to the place of which God had told him, Abraham built the altar there and laid the wood in order and bound Isaac his son and laid him on the altar, on top of the wood.9Then they came to the place of which God had told him; and Abraham built the altar there and arranged the wood, and bound his son Isaac and laid him on the altar, on top of the wood.9And they came to the place which God had told him of; and Abraham built an altar there, and laid the wood in order, and bound Isaac his son, and laid him on the altar upon the wood.9When they arrived at the place that God had told him about, Abraham built the altar there and arranged the wood. He bound his son Isaac and placed him on the altar on top of the wood.
Then he reached out his hand and took the knife to slay his son.10Then Abraham reached out his hand and took the knife to slaughter his son.10Abraham stretched out his hand and took the knife to slay his son.10And Abraham stretched forth his hand, and took the knife to slay his son.10Then Abraham reached out and took the knife to slaughter his son.

The Sacrifice Averted

NIVESVNASBKJVHCSB
But the angel of the LORD called out to him from heaven, "Abraham! Abraham!" "Here I am," he replied.11But the angel of the LORD called to him from heaven and said, “Abraham, Abraham!” And he said, “Here I am.”11But the angel of the LORD called to him from heaven and said, "Abraham, Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."11And the angel of the LORD called unto him out of heaven, and said, Abraham, Abraham: and he said, Here am I.11But the Angel of the LORD called to him from heaven and said, "Abraham, Abraham!" He replied, "Here I am."
"Do not lay a hand on the boy," he said. "Do not do anything to him. Now I know that you fear God, because you have not withheld from me your son, your only son."12He said, “Do not lay your hand on the boy or do anything to him, for now I know that you fear God, seeing you have not withheld your son, your only son, from me.”12He said, "Do not stretch out your hand against the lad, and do nothing to him; for now I know that you fear God, since you have not withheld your son, your only son, from Me."12And he said, Lay not thine hand upon the lad, neither do thou any thing unto him: for now I know that thou fearest God, seeing thou hast not withheld thy son, thine only son from me.12Then He said, "Do not lay a hand on the boy or do anything to him. For now I know that you fear God, since you have not withheld your only son from Me."
Abraham looked up and there in a thicket he saw a ram caught by its horns. He went over and took the ram and sacrificed it as a burnt offering instead of his son.13And Abraham lifted up his eyes and looked, and behold, behind him was a ram, caught in a thicket by his horns. And Abraham went and took the ram and offered it up as a burnt offering instead of his son.13Then Abraham raised his eyes and looked, and behold, behind him a ram caught in the thicket by his horns; and Abraham went and took the ram and offered him up for a burnt offering in the place of his son.13And Abraham lifted up his eyes, and looked, and behold behind him a ram caught in a thicket by his horns: and Abraham went and took the ram, and offered him up for a burnt offering in the stead of his son.13Abraham looked up and saw a ram caught in the thicket by its horns. So Abraham went and took the ram and offered it as a burnt offering in place of his son.
So Abraham called that place The LORD Will Provide. And to this day it is said, "On the mountain of the LORD it will be provided."14So Abraham called the name of that place, “The LORD will provide”; as it is said to this day, “On the mount of the LORD it shall be provided.”14Abraham called the name of that place The LORD Will Provide, as it is said to this day, "In the mount of the LORD it will be provided."14And Abraham called the name of that place Jehovahjireh: as it is said to this day, In the mount of the LORD it shall be seen.14And Abraham named that place The LORD Will Provide, so today it is said: "It will be provided on the LORD's mountain."

and said, "I swear by myself, declares the LORD, that because you have done this and have not withheld your son, your only son,16and said, “By myself I have sworn, declares the LORD, because you have done this and have not withheld your son, your only son,16and said, "By Myself I have sworn, declares the LORD, because you have done this thing and have not withheld your son, your only son,16And said, By myself have I sworn, saith the LORD, for because thou hast done this thing, and hast not withheld thy son, thine only son:16and said, "By Myself I have sworn," this is the LORD's declaration: "Because you have done this thing and have not withheld your only son,
I will surely bless you and make your descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and as the sand on the seashore. 18and through your offspring all nations on earth will be blessed, because you have obeyed me."18and in your offspring shall all the nations of the earth be blessed, because you have obeyed my voice.”18"In your seed all the nations of the earth shall be blessed, because you have obeyed My voice."18And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because thou hast obeyed my voice.18And all the nations of the earth will be blessed by your offspring because you have obeyed My command."
Then Abraham returned to his servants, and they set off together for Beersheba. And Abraham settled in Beer-sheba.
