Ephraim's Glory Vanishes

NIVESVNASBKJVHCSB
1When Ephraim spoke, people trembled; he was exalted in Israel. But he became guilty of Baal worship and died.1When Ephraim spoke, there was trembling; he was exalted in Israel, but he incurred guilt through Baal and died.1When Ephraim spoke, there was trembling. He exalted himself in Israel, But through Baal he did wrong and died.1When Ephraim spake trembling, he exalted himself in Israel; but when he offended in Baal, he died.1When Ephraim spoke, there was trembling; he was exalted in Israel. But he incurred guilt through Baal and died.
2Now they sin more and more; they make idols for themselves from their silver, cleverly fashioned images, all of them the work of craftsmen. It is said of these people, "They offer human sacrifices! They kiss calf-idols!"2And now they sin more and more, and make for themselves metal images, idols skillfully made of their silver, all of them the work of craftsmen. It is said of them, “Those who offer human sacrifice kiss calves!”2And now they sin more and more, And make for themselves molten images, Idols skillfully made from their silver, All of them the work of craftsmen. They say of them, "Let the men who sacrifice kiss the calves!"2And now they sin more and more, and have made them molten images of their silver, and idols according to their own understanding, all of it the work of the craftsmen: they say of them, Let the men that sacrifice kiss the calves.2Now they continue to sin and make themselves a cast image, idols skillfully made from their silver, all of them the work of craftsmen. People say about them," Let the men who sacrifice kiss the calves."
3Therefore they will be like the morning mist, like the early dew that disappears, like chaff swirling from a threshing floor, like smoke escaping through a window.3Therefore they shall be like the morning mist or like the dew that goes early away, like the chaff that swirls from the threshing floor or like smoke from a window.3Therefore they will be like the morning cloud And like dew which soon disappears, Like chaff which is blown away from the threshing floor And like smoke from a chimney.3Therefore they shall be as the morning cloud, and as the early dew that passeth away, as the chaff that is driven with the whirlwind out of the floor, and as the smoke out of the chimney.3Therefore, they will be like the morning mist, like the early dew that vanishes, like chaff blown from a threshing floor, or like smoke from a window.

God's Anger

NIVESVNASBKJVHCSB
4"But I have been the LORD your God ever since you came out of Egypt. You shall acknowledge no God but me, no Savior except me.4But I am the LORD your God from the land of Egypt; you know no God but me, and besides me there is no savior.4Yet I have been the LORD your God Since the land of Egypt; And you were not to know any god except Me, For there is no savior besides Me.4Yet I am the LORD thy God from the land of Egypt, and thou shalt know no god but me: for there is no saviour beside me.4I have been Yahweh your God ever since the land of Egypt; you know no God but Me, and no Savior exists besides Me.
5I cared for you in the wilderness, in the land of burning heat.5It was I who knew you in the wilderness, in the land of drought;5I cared for you in the wilderness, In the land of drought.5I did know thee in the wilderness, in the land of great drought.5I knew you in the wilderness, in the land of drought.
6When I fed them, they were satisfied; when they were satisfied, they became proud; then they forgot me.6but when they had grazed, they became full, they were filled, and their heart was lifted up; therefore they forgot me.6As they had their pasture, they became satisfied, And being satisfied, their heart became proud; Therefore they forgot Me.6According to their pasture, so were they filled; they were filled, and their heart was exalted; therefore have they forgotten me.6When they had pasture, they became satisfied; they were satisfied, and their hearts became proud. Therefore they forgot Me.
7So I will be like a lion to them, like a leopard I will lurk by the path.7So I am to them like a lion; like a leopard I will lurk beside the way.7So I will be like a lion to them; Like a leopard I will lie in wait by the wayside.7Therefore I will be unto them as a lion: as a leopard by the way will I observe them:7So I will be like a lion to them; I will lurk like a leopard on the path.
8Like a bear robbed of her cubs, I will attack them and rip them open; like a lion I will devour them-- a wild animal will tear them apart.8I will fall upon them like a bear robbed of her cubs; I will tear open their breast, and there I will devour them like a lion, as a wild beast would rip them open.8I will encounter them like a bear robbed of her cubs, And I will tear open their chests; There I will also devour them like a lioness, As a wild beast would tear them.8I will meet them as a bear that is bereaved of her whelps, and will rend the caul of their heart, and there will I devour them like a lion: the wild beast shall tear them.8I will attack them like a bear robbed of her cubs and tear open the rib cage over their hearts. I will devour them there like a lioness, like a wild beast that would rip them open.

God's Mercy

NIVESVNASBKJVHCSB
9"You are destroyed, Israel, because you are against me, against your helper.9He destroys you, O Israel, for you are against me, against your helper.9It is your destruction, O Israel, That you are against Me, against your help.9O Israel, thou hast destroyed thyself; but in me is thine help.9I will destroy you, Israel; you have no help but Me.
10Where is your king, that he may save you? Where are your rulers in all your towns, of whom you said, 'Give me a king and princes'?10Where now is your king, to save you in all your cities? Where are all your rulers— those of whom you said, “Give me a king and princes”?10Where now is your king That he may save you in all your cities, And your judges of whom you requested, "Give me a king and princes "?10I will be thy king: where is any other that may save thee in all thy cities? and thy judges of whom thou saidst, Give me a king and princes?10Where now is your king, that he may save you in all your cities, and the rulers you demanded, saying," Give me a king and leaders"?
11So in my anger I gave you a king, and in my wrath I took him away.11I gave you a king in my anger, and I took him away in my wrath.11I gave you a king in My anger And took him away in My wrath.11I gave thee a king in mine anger, and took him away in my wrath.11I give you a king in My anger and take away a king in My wrath.
12The guilt of Ephraim is stored up, his sins are kept on record.12The iniquity of Ephraim is bound up; his sin is kept in store.12The iniquity of Ephraim is bound up; His sin is stored up.12The iniquity of Ephraim is bound up; his sin is hid.12Ephraim's guilt is preserved; his sin is stored up.
NIVESVNASBKJVHCSB
13Pains as of a woman in childbirth come to him, but he is a child without wisdom; when the time arrives, he doesn't have the sense to come out of the womb.13The pangs of childbirth come for him, but he is an unwise son, for at the right time he does not present himself at the opening of the womb.13The pains of childbirth come upon him; He is not a wise son, For it is not the time that he should delay at the opening of the womb.13The sorrows of a travailing woman shall come upon him: he is an unwise son; for he should not stay long in the place of the breaking forth of children.13Labor pains come on him. He is not a wise son; when the time comes, he will not be born.
14"I will deliver this people from the power of the grave; I will redeem them from death. Where, O death, are your plagues? Where, O grave, is your destruction? "I will have no compassion,14I shall ransom them from the power of Sheol; I shall redeem them from Death. O Death, where are your plagues? O Sheol, where is your sting? Compassion is hidden from my eyes.14Shall I ransom them from the power of Sheol? Shall I redeem them from death? O Death, where are your thorns? O Sheol, where is your sting? Compassion will be hidden from My sight.14I will ransom them from the power of the grave; I will redeem them from death: O death, I will be thy plagues; O grave, I will be thy destruction: repentance shall be hid from mine eyes.14I will ransom them from the power of Sheol. I will redeem them from death. Death, where are your barbs? Sheol, where is your sting? Compassion is hidden from My eyes.

The Judgment on Samaria

NIVESVNASBKJVHCSB
15even though he thrives among his brothers. An east wind from the LORD will come, blowing in from the desert; his spring will fail and his well dry up. His storehouse will be plundered of all its treasures.15Though he may flourish among his brothers, the east wind, the wind of the LORD, shall come, rising from the wilderness, and his fountain shall dry up; his spring shall be parched; it shall strip his treasury of every precious thing.15Though he flourishes among the reeds, An east wind will come, The wind of the LORD coming up from the wilderness; And his fountain will become dry And his spring will be dried up; It will plunder his treasury of every precious article.15Though he be fruitful among his brethren, an east wind shall come, the wind of the LORD shall come up from the wilderness, and his spring shall become dry, and his fountain shall be dried up: he shall spoil the treasure of all pleasant vessels.15Although he flourishes among his brothers, an east wind will come, a wind from the LORD rising up from the desert. His water source will fail, and his spring will run dry. The wind will plunder the treasury of every precious item.
16The people of Samaria must bear their guilt, because they have rebelled against their God. They will fall by the sword; their little ones will be dashed to the ground, their pregnant women ripped open."16Samaria shall bear her guilt, because she has rebelled against her God; they shall fall by the sword; their little ones shall be dashed in pieces, and their pregnant women ripped open.16Samaria will be held guilty, For she has rebelled against her God. They will fall by the sword, Their little ones will be dashed in pieces, And their pregnant women will be ripped open.16Samaria shall become desolate; for she hath rebelled against her God: they shall fall by the sword: their infants shall be dashed in pieces, and their women with child shall be ripped up.16Samaria will bear her guilt because she has rebelled against her God. They will fall by the sword; their little ones will be dashed to pieces, and their pregnant women ripped open.
