Do Not Judge

(Luke 6:37-42; Romans 14:1-12)

NIVESVNASBKJVHCSB
1"Do not judge, or you too will be judged.1“Judge not, that you be not judged.1"Do not judge so that you will not be judged.1Judge not, that ye be not judged.1"Do not judge, so that you won't be judged.
2For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.2For with the judgment you pronounce you will be judged, and with the measure you use it will be measured to you.2"For in the way you judge, you will be judged; and by your standard of measure, it will be measured to you.2For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.2For with the judgment you use, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.
3"Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother's eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye?3Why do you see the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye?3"Why do you look at the speck that is in your brother's eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye?3And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?3Why do you look at the speck in your brother's eye but don't notice the log in your own eye?
4How can you say to your brother, 'Let me take the speck out of your eye,' when all the time there is a plank in your own eye?4Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when there is the log in your own eye?4"Or how can you say to your brother, 'Let me take the speck out of your eye,' and behold, the log is in your own eye?4Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye?4Or how can you say to your brother, Let me take the speck out of your eye,' and look, there's a log in your eye?
NIVESVNASBKJVHCSB
5You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye.5You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother’s eye.5"You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother's eye.5Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye.5Hypocrite! First take the log out of your eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother's eye.
6"Do not give dogs what is sacred; do not throw your pearls to pigs. If you do, they may trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you to pieces.6“Do not give dogs what is holy, and do not throw your pearls before pigs, lest they trample them underfoot and turn to attack you.6"Do not give what is holy to dogs, and do not throw your pearls before swine, or they will trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you to pieces.6Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you.6Don't give what is holy to dogs or toss your pearls before pigs, or they will trample them with their feet, turn, and tear you to pieces.

Ask, Seek, Knock

(Luke 11:5-13)

NIVESVNASBKJVHCSB
7"Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.7“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.7"Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.7Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:7"Keep asking, and it will be given to you. Keep searching, and you will find. Keep knocking, and the door will be opened to you.
8For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.8For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened.8"For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.8For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.8For everyone who asks receives, and the one who searches finds, and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.
9"Which of you, if your son asks for bread, will give him a stone?9Or which one of you, if his son asks him for bread, will give him a stone?9"Or what man is there among you who, when his son asks for a loaf, will give him a stone?9Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone?9What man among you, if his son asks him for bread, will give him a stone?
10Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake?10Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a serpent?10"Or if he asks for a fish, he will not give him a snake, will he?10Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent?10Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake?
NIVESVNASBKJVHCSB
11If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!11If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him!11"If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give what is good to those who ask Him!11If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?11If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!
12So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.12“So whatever you wish that others would do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets.12"In everything, therefore, treat people the same way you want them to treat you, for this is the Law and the Prophets.12Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.12Therefore, whatever you want others to do for you, do also the same for them--this is the Law and the Prophets.

The Narrow Gate

(Luke 13:22-30)

NIVESVNASBKJVHCSB
13"Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it.13“Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many.13"Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter through it.13Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:13"Enter through the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the road is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who go through it.
14But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.14For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few.14"For the gate is small and the way is narrow that leads to life, and there are few who find it.14Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.14How narrow is the gate and difficult the road that leads to life, and few find it.

A Tree and its Fruit

(Matthew 12:33-37; Luke 6:43-45)

NIVESVNASBKJVHCSB
15"Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves.15“Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves.15"Beware of the false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly are ravenous wolves.15Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.15"Beware of false prophets who come to you in sheep's clothing but inwardly are ravaging wolves.
16By their fruit you will recognize them. Do people pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles?16You will recognize them by their fruits. Are grapes gathered from thornbushes, or figs from thistles?16"You will know them by their fruits. Grapes are not gathered from thorn bushes nor figs from thistles, are they?16Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?16You'll recognize them by their fruit. Are grapes gathered from thornbushes or figs from thistles?
17Likewise, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit.17So, every healthy tree bears good fruit, but the diseased tree bears bad fruit.17"So every good tree bears good fruit, but the bad tree bears bad fruit.17Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.17In the same way, every good tree produces good fruit, but a bad tree produces bad fruit.
18A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit.18A healthy tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a diseased tree bear good fruit.18"A good tree cannot produce bad fruit, nor can a bad tree produce good fruit.18A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.18A good tree can't produce bad fruit; neither can a bad tree produce good fruit.
NIVESVNASBKJVHCSB
19Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.19Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.19"Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.19Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.19Every tree that doesn't produce good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.
20Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them.20Thus you will recognize them by their fruits.20"So then, you will know them by their fruits.20Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.20So you'll recognize them by their fruit.
21"Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.21“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.21"Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter.21Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.21"Not everyone who says to Me, Lord, Lord!' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of My Father in heaven.
22Many will say to me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?'22On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’22"Many will say to Me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles?'22Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?22On that day many will say to Me, Lord, Lord, didn't we prophesy in Your name, drive out demons in Your name, and do many miracles in Your name?'
23Then I will tell them plainly, 'I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!'23And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’23"And then I will declare to them, 'I never knew you; DEPART FROM ME, YOU WHO PRACTICE LAWLESSNESS.'23And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.23Then I will announce to them, I never knew you! Depart from Me, you lawbreakers!'

The House on the Rock

(Luke 6:46-49)

NIVESVNASBKJVHCSB
24"Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock.24“Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock.24"Therefore everyone who hears these words of Mine and acts on them, may be compared to a wise man who built his house on the rock.24Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:24"Therefore, everyone who hears these words of Mine and acts on them will be like a sensible man who built his house on the rock.
25The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock.25And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock.25"And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and slammed against that house; and yet it did not fall, for it had been founded on the rock.25And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.25The rain fell, the rivers rose, and the winds blew and pounded that house. Yet it didn't collapse, because its foundation was on the rock.
26But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand.26And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand.26"Everyone who hears these words of Mine and does not act on them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand.26And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand:26But everyone who hears these words of Mine and doesn't act on them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand.
27The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash."27And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it.”27"The rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and slammed against that house; and it fell-- and great was its fall."27And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.27The rain fell, the rivers rose, the winds blew and pounded that house, and it collapsed. And its collapse was great!"

The Authority of Jesus

NIVESVNASBKJVHCSB
28When Jesus had finished saying these things, the crowds were amazed at his teaching,28And when Jesus finished these sayings, the crowds were astonished at his teaching,28When Jesus had finished these words, the crowds were amazed at His teaching;28And it came to pass, when Jesus had ended these sayings, the people were astonished at his doctrine:28When Jesus had finished this sermon, the crowds were astonished at His teaching,
29because he taught as one who had authority, and not as their teachers of the law.29for he was teaching them as one who had authority, and not as their scribes.29for He was teaching them as one having authority, and not as their scribes.29For he taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes.29because He was teaching them like one who had authority, and not like their scribes.
